Firstly let me thank you for your interest in this small business. Hopefully as you wander through the various pages of this website, that I have personally created, you will learn a little more about me and my business. Get to know that I will always take care of you, your family and your budget as best that I can. Part of the job is understanding what you need while the remainder is about regulations, responsibility, knowledge and experience which all help to define the quality of the final result. Sometime these traits clash because of budget restrictions, legal requirements or simply because the products available limit us. For example I often wish that smaller air conditioners are available here in Australia, because houses with smaller rooms are being built. I have been in offices in China where 0.5kW air conditioners are not uncommon.
Past choices from other trades and electricians can create problems that are often hard to express to customers. When I have to solve these problems created by other people, whether their intents at the time were good, bad or indifferent, then there are usually costs in time and money. So whenever possible, it is important to consider not only the current goal but that other people and trades will work on your home later.
I want to thank the many customers who have supported and patronized me over the years. In return, I have worked hard and earned their trust. I insist on not overcharging, being honest and trustworthy, solving problems diligently, fulfilling warranty obligations, and never cutting corners. I have found that it is crucial for me not only to abide by rules and regulations but also to actively seek ways to help customers grow in the future.
On the contact information page I have included all the links and pathways that you can use to contact me. And below this message I have provided some details about my business and myself.
Thank you!
Kind regards,
Robert Allan
• Payment terms for this business are expected in two ways:
o For work completed the same day, the payment must be paid on the completion of the work.
o Where work takes more than one day, a progress payment will be expected, based on the agreed amount of work and material used so far.
• Credit is NOT available to most clients.
• Transfer of ownership of material is not completed until payment owed is paid in full.
• Customers accept that if action is taken to recover materials due to non-payment, then all costs will be theirs to bear.
• That without notice, legal action can and will commence if payment is not completed as agreed.
• Warranty of products and labour is based on Australia’s statutory requirements and those provided by manufacturers. The minimum is usually 12 months from the date of installation.
• Some manufacturers extend their warranties for a number of years. Your warranty is valid based on any conditions and limitations that they have expressed at the time of purchase.
• It is up to you to keep receipts and ensure that you can provide proof when your product/s was installed.
• Electrical Safety Certificates are required to be provided whenever new or additions to existing works occur.
• Electrical Safety Certificates are required to be issued within 30 days of completion of work.
This Sole Trader Business was created in 2012 when it was decided to focus on the residential market. Unlike the commercial and industrial markets, residential work is repetitive, in that it uses the same products most of the time. Work is usually limited to common items and problems are often easier to resolve. Commercial/Industrial markets however can be complex and require an even changing range of products, depending on the needs of the client.
Most things needed for residential projects can be secured in a vehicle, commercial and industrial work often require storage yards, workshops, staff and corresponding offices. Not having these kinds of overheads is an important consideration when budgeting on your project.
Commercial and industrial customers can often request credit without prior application; this is known as unsecured credit. Unsecured credit carries risk for any business because there is no formal contract between the business and the customer. The longer a customer defaults on payments, the greater the risk of the business going bankrupt. At this point, the biggest problem for other customers is the potential loss of warranty and service if their equipment malfunctions..
On the negative side, some believe that sole proprietorships lack support and certain capabilities. Any business owner who survives the first few years of their venture will accumulate knowledge and experience to overcome some problems, but any business that survives for more than ten years has experienced a variety of challenges. Whether it's cash flow, customer relationships, fraud, supplier issues, vehicle breakdowns, or simply bad luck, these are all problems they face. I believe customers are always looking for someone they can trust and rely on.
