• There are Evaporative coolers that use fans and water to provide a cooling affect. They are cheap to run and work well when the humidity is low.
• Then there a refrigeration systems that can cool and heat a room or a whole house. These can work successfully in any kind of environment but are more expensive to operate.
• Split System Air Conditioners are designed to cool/heat a single room while a ducted system is designed to do many room and usually covers a complete building.
• In years past refrigeration systems only provide a cooling mode, but current models have both heat and cooling modes to allow us to feel comfortable regardless of the season.
• Most brands offer a WiFi feature that allows us to operate the air conditioner when we are away from home. This gives the ability to manage the unit more effectively and a number of ways.
• In Australia, there are various licenses that can be obtained depending on the knowledge and skills that an applicant can prove.
• Beyond the skill to install, licenses are also required to manage certain types of business. These licenses give a number of protections to customers. Air conditioning and electrical services are two such businesses. A business must have a Contractor's License to sell any kind of electrical service. Besides have the skill and knowledge, each person working for the customer must hold a license suitable for the work they are doing.
• All advertising must display licenses that supports the services being advertised. In the case of an electrician the number must have a EC suffix. A person working on air conditioning must have a GHL suffix.
• All licenses can be verified by checking the government websites or asking for a copy of the workers' identification.

o Electrical cabling between the inside and outside unit.
o Electrical cabling to either an adjacent air conditioner supply or to the electrical switchboard.
